Hirelings can be added to games at any player count. With fewer players, the hirelings add new pieces to the map, ramping up the tension and giving you more tactical options.

The Rivals & Renegades expansion adds two new factions to Ahoy. You can use them in place of the Bluefin Squadron and Mollusk Union from the core game, or add them all together in a two-versus-two team mode.
